Convention Activities

HOSPITALITY ROOM
Open Wednesday through Friday, the hospitality room is where attendees check in, obtain information about the convention and local area, and hang out with friends. Each registered guest receives a name tag and welcome bag.

MEET AND GREET
The convention kicks off Wednesday evening in the hospitality room with a meet and greet for renewing old friendships and making new acquaintances.

WORKSHOPS
Thursday / Friday: Two nationally-known colored pencil artists present a one-day workshop on both Thursday and Friday. Attendees may take one or both of these workshops for a reasonable fee with lower rates for CPSA members.

ART GALA
Thursday evening: This lively and fun evening includes a slide show of all artwork submitted to the exhibition, numerous door and raffle prizes, and bidding on the silent auction

SILENT AUCTION
During the convention, attendees have an opportunity to bid on original colored pencil artwork donated by signature and award-winning artists. Winning bids are announced at the conclusion of the Art Gala.

AWARDS BANQUET
Friday evening: The highlight of the convention is the banquet when CPSA announces the award winners and honors members who have achieved signature and merit awards. Advance Reservations and payment are required for this event.

ARTISTS’ RECEPTION
Saturday: The gallery hosts a reception to celebrate the exhibited art and award winners. This event is open to the public. After the reception, there is sometimes a dessert party at the hotel for convention-goers.

OTHER EVENTS
Saturday: Some years CPSA schedules special events such as trade shows with product manufacturers, field trips or short seminars by guest speakers on art-related topics.

PRE-CONVENTION MEETINGS
Before the convention gets into full swing on Wednesday, the national governing board and district chapters hold two days of business meetings.
