Q: What is a progressive jpg and how do I recognize that format? |
A: The progressive jpg is the type of image that you see on websites that loads in as a fuzzy or out of focus image and then goes through several steps until it's entirely in focus. If you save and manipulate your photos in Photoshop that option appears when you do a "Save As" a jpg file and the next window shows you the options of Quality and at the bottom "Format Options" -- baseline standard, baseline optimized, and Progressive. Either baseline option is okay. Progressive, however, will not be saved correctly for this purpose. |
